Artist Statement:

As a third-year student majoring in Studio Art and Literature, my artwork aims to capture scenes of contemplation and evoke moods that cannot be expressed simply through words. I glean inspiration from diverse encounters, whether that be from new experiences with friends, traveling to different places, or hiking in the outdoors. I then ask myself, “How can I immortalize these moments and bring them back to life in a new way?” I create the majority of my artwork from reference images gathered from everyday life. My art explores diverse subject matter, including humans engaging in unique experiences, the lively characteristics of various flora, and the tranquil simplicity of monastic life. They are unified through vivid color palettes, gestural brush strokes, and bold compositions. Primarily, I work with oil paint, as I find it to be the best medium for achieving smooth blending and vibrant hues.
